A series of brooches documenting a year

As we all turned inward during COVID, I was compelled to make a brooch every month or two for a year, which described what was going on inside my head. They start in February and end in November. This is my story from inward denial; to spring's rebirth; to destruction/construction during BLM demonstrations; to a fall of fires and smoke and the need to express the smack climate change symptoms are giving us; and finally Hope. The pearl is a sign of hope: from a bit of grit a gem of beauty is laboriously built. I consider this one work. It always had a clearly defined start and finish, and each brooch is not meaningful without the group. Perhaps a metaphor in itself for our current human condition.
